Ramen Cake!
It's been a while since I posted, been pretty busy with classes the past few months but there is a good sign! Always good to be busy :D
This was one of the cakes I enjoyed doing this past month. It was a special cake done for my one and only Daddy! Whenever there is an occassion, my grandfather would make home-made noodles for the entire family. Since my grandfather passed away, my Dad carried on with this tradition, including making his own improvements. He makes the best noodles ever!! It is made from scratch and does not contain any preservertives. Beats any noodle you buy outside! So for his 60th birthday I decided to replicate it.
This was my first gravity defying cake. I always 'wowed' over them when I see them on the internet and was hopping to get a chance to make one! I have tried making the real noodles with my Dad when I was younger and boy was it tough! It required a lot of strength to roll the dough thin enough to go through the machine! Thankfully fondant is much easier to roll! That made the process more fun hahahaha!
Had to borrow my Dad's noodle maker to make the noodles look exactly the same! This was also my first attempt trying to make food realistic too! mushrooms that were shaped and dusted to make it look like the real thing!
And after putting everything together.... Ta-da!!
